How to Track and Manage Savings

Edited

In the Budget tab, you’ll see a Savings section. This is where you can set your savings goals.

💸Transferring to Savings

  • When you move money to your long-term savings account, Billroo will automatically label it as a “Transfer.”

  • To make sure it counts as savings, re-categorise it to “Savings.” Our auto-categorisation should remember this and categorise similar transactions as “Savings” automatically in the future.

  • This will ensure it’s not counted as income or spending, but instead shown under your Savings Summary

🎨Understanding Colours

  • Savings transactions don’t appear as red or green like income (green) or spending (red).

  • Once a transaction is labelled as “Savings,” it gets tracked separately in the Savings Summary section, not in your regular budget categories.

🛍️Spending from Savings

  • If you later use your savings to make a purchase: Billroo will treat it as a regular expense when it happens.

  • Just make sure you categorise the purchase properly (e.g. “Shopping,” “Travel,” etc.).

  • This spending will be reflected in the period when it occurs, so your budget stays accurate.

📊Review Your Savings

  • Go to Overview > Savings Summary to see how your savings are tracking.

  • This section shows all transactions marked as “Savings,” separate from income and spending.
