How to Track and Manage Savings
In the Budget tab, you’ll see a Savings section. This is where you can set your savings goals.
💸Transferring to Savings
When you move money to your long-term savings account, Billroo will automatically label it as a “Transfer.”
To make sure it counts as savings, re-categorise it to “Savings.” Our auto-categorisation should remember this and categorise similar transactions as “Savings” automatically in the future.
This will ensure it’s not counted as income or spending, but instead shown under your Savings Summary
🎨Understanding Colours
Savings transactions don’t appear as red or green like income (green) or spending (red).
Once a transaction is labelled as “Savings,” it gets tracked separately in the Savings Summary section, not in your regular budget categories.
🛍️Spending from Savings
If you later use your savings to make a purchase: Billroo will treat it as a regular expense when it happens.
Just make sure you categorise the purchase properly (e.g. “Shopping,” “Travel,” etc.).
This spending will be reflected in the period when it occurs, so your budget stays accurate.
📊Review Your Savings
Go to Overview > Savings Summary to see how your savings are tracking.
This section shows all transactions marked as “Savings,” separate from income and spending.
